Intro to Instructional Design

A proposal to use for our design scenario for the semester.

Had to encompass justification for the course and identify the target audience.

A short paper on the need for an analysis before beginning design.

This assignment gives students familiarity with the Analysis Phase of the ADDIE model.

Skills/Tools: Theoretical knowledge on how to conduct an needs analysis.

A slide deck with plans for teaching strategies for the course.

Used to familiarize students with teaching strategies and practice providing justification for the ones chosen. 

Skills/Tools: Creating flowcharts, Formative and summative assessments, Types of learning experiences.

A storyboard of a learning experience detailed in the design project previously.

Gives students experience designing and developing an entire learning experience, showing how it would work, and what the end goal is supposed to be. The Tech Rationale gives justification for technology that would be needed to actually develop the learning experience for course use.

Skills/Tools: Google Slides, Storyboarding, Tech familiarity.

A short paper to discuss implementation strategy for the course.

This assignment lets students practice considering teaching guidelines, the course delivery methods, and potential learning or teaching barriers.

Skills: Creating teaching guidelines for instructors, Looking for potential difficulties and correcting them

A short paper on evaluating a course.

Gives justification for using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model to judge improvement areas needed.

Skills: Kirkpatrick evaluation model, iteration

A slide deck compiling all work done on the proposed course

Includes all design phases and applies what was learned from them

Skills: Formal design proposal with all the pieces; presentation; ADDIE Model

A short paper detailing what we learned in our final project.
